60 days til the reunion

What a flurry of posts as Chris and Meagan rejoin the fold. I can understand where they are both coming from as I do have to plan my schedule around a little person and I am working hard to get back in shape. If we were training for an olympic distance tri, I would be excited because I have been able to get in lots of workouts but nothing very long. I am pretty happy with my last week though as I have had two days where I ran at the gym and then went right into the pool for a swim. I have been getting in some good 1-2 hour bike rides and just got my road bike back from the shop so it nice and shiny and quiet. Tonight I pick up the chariot bike trailer so noah can be the caboose when I ride this weekend. I might not get in the long rides but it has to help that I am towing a trailer!!!!

I am going to buy my tickets for eagleman this week. It sounds like we will all be there so we need to find a good place for a long relaxing dinner the night before or we could do the same as last year.

I rode for 1 1/2 hrs this morning, as well as on Sunday and swam 1 mile after the Sunday ride...I'm trying to cram in the work outs since I'm leaving for Dublin and Rome on Saturday....if I'm lucky I'll get in a run or two while I'm gone but I'm not going to stress about it.

I'll be doing the Columbia ride and a short run [first brick] on Saturday just before I get on the plane...maybe that will help me sleep?

Meagan, I've seen Scott a few times riding out there and if you're able to do a weekend ride, I'd be happy to keep you company. I'll also be ready and able to do runs on weekends or after work if that works for your schedule.

I've offered to put Ms. McCarthy up in my small abode when she comes to stay for E-man but it would be a tight squeeze for an additional 3 people. We have 5 rooms reserved for all of us [Chris, Meghan, Nate, Me, and Rebecca] so lodging in Easton shouldn't be an issue.

Its time to start thinking about the 2006 t-shirt!! Ideas?? Shall we each chose a specific muppet or a Sesame Street character?

I think we need a shirt with a map on it since we are geographically challenged at this point.

I concur with Nate that a map is good. Otherwise, how can we even imagine topping the doughnuts and bacon? Such a high bar you set last year, ladies! I'll mull it over and try to come up with something brilliant...

Accompanied Alden on his ride to work this morning which was great as I enjoyed his fabulous company for 14 miles of a soggy 35 mile ride although riding down to meet him (in front of the pool, no less!) first thing in the morning got me to missing you all.

My 1/2 marathon in Vancouver is fast approaching (May 7) and there's a good-sized crew from my swim team/run club heading up there which should be fun. It will be a good benchmark for my Eman training... speaking of which, how is the training week going? Have Meagan and Cory met up for a run or ride? Did Nate get in the pool this week? Has Chris brought his bike down from Bmore to ride from the barracks? Do tell!

Sunday - 25 miles hard on the road bike plus 3 miles running with jog stroller
Monday - 1 hour on the mountain bike with jan
Tuesday - 5 miles run on treadmill then 500 yards swim
Wednesday - not a damn thing
Today - running home from work - 7 miles
Friday - 6 mile run then 600 yard swim
Saturday - 30 miles bike on mountain bike

should be my best week so far this year. 2 swims, 3 bikes and 4 runs.

OK, so my week did not end as planned but although my run home on thursday was only 5 miles and I did not a damn thing on friday, jan and I did a 48 mile ride on mountain bikes on the kady trail (similar to the c&o towpath) in 85 degree weather. I am pretty sore now but it was a great ride.

Great job, Nate! I did not get in a long ride this week despite my best intentions. We've been having crazy April weather (hail, rain & sun all within an hour) with the temps hovering around 40-45 degrees. I had a fabulous 11.2 mile trail run on Saturday morning, but yesterday was a real bust. Went 22 solo in the wind feelin like absolute crap. I think I've got to adjust my post-run strategy on Saturday to include lots more water and some more food to refuel and get ready for the longer ride Sunday am. Was just a hurtin' puppy yesterday which doesn't do any good for my training or self-confidence. Did manage to figure out I was dehydrated and starving around 5 last night and worked to correct the deficit. Am feeling better today, but think I will take the entire day off (not even doing an aerobic swimming workout which is my normal routine on Mondays) and try to get back into it tomorrow...
